Executive Director, HIMH Ministries
Laurie Krieg is the founder and the executive director of Hole in my Heart Ministries, a compassionate teaching, writing, and mentoring ministry for people wrestling with issues related to sexuality. Laurie daily submits her broken same-sex sexuality to the lordship of Christ while married to her best friend (Matt Krieg), and comes alive sharing how and why she does that. Matt daily submits his broken heterosexual sexuality to the lordship of Christ while married to his best friend (Laurie), and comes alive sharing how and why he does that. Matt was a vital part of the launch of HIMH Ministries when it began in June 2015, and now works as a licensed professional counselor with Caring Well Counseling.
Laurie speaks and writes frequently including serving as keynote at HIMH's Caring Well Conference (which gathered dozens of organizations, churches, and individuals seeking ways to speak graceful truth), on her weekly podcast, alongside Dr. Preston Sprinkle on the mini-documentary Dear Church: I'm Gay, at the Q Conference, and on his podcast. Laurie also serves on the board of directors on Preston's The Center for Faith, Sexuality & Gender, and wrote a highly read article for the organization titled, "10 Things I Wish Every Christian Leader Knew About Gay Teens in Their Church." She has spoken numerous university settings include Wheaton College Chapel, Cornerstone University, Kuyper College, Calvin Seminary, and Grand Rapids Theological Seminary as one of their keynote speakers for their Talking Points conference. She has guest-blogged for Lies Young Women Believe and The Mudroom, written and recorded videos Our Daily Bread's Off the Page team. She has guest-podcasted with Chris Fabry Live! Theology in the Raw, Mom Struggling Well, The Antioch Podcast, (and will be on Dr. Juli Slattery's Java With Juli spring 2018), and was featured on the DVD curriculum The Whole Sex Talk by the Pregnancy Resource Center. Laurie is also featured in Lead Them Home's 2018 helpful guide for parents and families called Guiding Families. Laurie is working with the Wolgemuth Literary Agency on a hopefully, soon-to-be-published book. (See more of her videos and resources here.)
When Laurie is not working, Laurie loves to run, bake cookies, and play superheroes with her daughters.
